Business AngelsA Business Angel (sometimes called an Angel Investor or simply an angel) is an wealthy individual who provides capital for a business start-up, usually in exchange for convertible debt or ownership equity within a business. Unlike Venture Capitalists who invest pooled monetary resources as part of a managed funding, Angels typically invest their own money. Angel Capital fills the gap in start-up financing between "friends and family" investment (sometimes called seed funding), and Venture Capital funding. Equity or Angel funding (sometimes called equity funding) is simply a lump sum of money offered in exchange for a share of your business. The investment is usually not secured against any assets other than those of the business itself. By investing in your business an Angel is helping you to succeed but they are also gambling on your ability to generate rapid growth. |
